Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough standard size
  • 0.5 cup marinara sauce thick style preferred
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese or provolone
  • 18 slices pepperoni standard round
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for greasing
  • 1 tsp dried basil optional garnish

Equipment

  • Muffin Tin
  • Pizza Cutter

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and thoroughly grease a standard muffin tin with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough onto a clean surface and cut it lengthwise into 6 even strips, about 1.5 inches wide.
  3. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce down the center of each strip, avoiding the edges.
  4. Layer the mozzarella cheese slices on top of the sauce. Cut slices in half if they are too wide for the dough.
  5. Place pepperoni slices along the top edge of the dough, overlapping slightly. Let the top half of the pepperoni hang off the dough strip.
  6. Roll the dough up tightly from one end to the other to form a rose shape. Pinch the end to seal.
  7. Place each rose into a muffin cup. If needed, gently open the pepperoni petals.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan. Serve warm with extra dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Check roses at the 10-minute mark; if pepperoni is burning, cover loosely with foil.
  • Use room temperature dough for easier rolling.
